Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Star Wars Night
Another cool Star Wars Night Jersey, this time from the Midwest League Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
An awesome R2-D2 Jersey that they’ll be wearing tonight. Star Wars night is by far the most common themed night for MiLB teams without a doubt. But, it’s a themed night that is impossible to get sick of. This is also the coolest R2-D2 uniform I’ve seen to date.
The only other R2D2 jerseys I have seen are this one from the Jupiter Hammerheads:
And this one from the Jackson Generals:
By far, the Timber Rattlers have a cooler R2D2 jersey. The Timber Rattlers are the Class-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Today’s featured prospects are Devin Williams and Isan Diaz.
Devin Willaims
Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 45 | Overall: 50
Williams may still be in the early stages of development, but he has as much upside as any arm in the system. He will sit in the low 90s with his fastball but can touch 95 mph at times, and with added strength to his frame, he could add a tick or two velocity-wise. Both his mid-80s slider, which can be a little slurvy at times, and his deceptive, sinking changeup have the chance to be at least Major League average. Williams made strides with his control in 2014 only to regress in that department last season, when he walked 3.6 batters per nine innings and paced the Midwest League with 19 wild pitches. However, given his overall athleticism and loose arm, he should be able to learn to repeat his delivery well enough to develop solid command.
With a clean and easy delivery, a projectable body, and a potential three-pitch mix, Williams has the look of future a mid-rotation starter.
Isan Diaz
Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 45 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50
Diaz has a tick below-average speed but runs the bases well, with scouts praising his instincts and knack for getting good jumps. He has spent most of his professional career at shortstop but profiles as more of a second baseman at the highest level, where his range, speed and arm strength are a cleaner fit. While he has a ways to go before reaching the Major Leagues, Diaz could emerge as one of the Brewers’ top position prospects with another strong campaign.
